Dear Ralph : There is this guy at work....

Morning to you Ralph
Don't know if you can help out with this as I have read a couple of posts from your blog and I really like the way you tackle problems. I am 33 and unmarried, I spent most of my time chasing my work and had no time for relationships and now I have achieved a high office with good pay and benefits in my company. But recently I have gotten a lot closer to one of my workers, he really gives me good laughs and knows how to tease me with words but nothing that would lead to my skirt at least no yet, he just looks for trouble in a cute way if you know what I mean.
The thing is that I am he's superior at the office and he is also younger than me, although I have never asked he's age but I gather that he is about 27, that makes me about 6 years older than him. Also I really don't know if it is wise to start an affair with a guy in the same office that I work. It might cloud my judgement when I have to take certain actions. Also I know the way I get when it comes to love making, I might not be able to control myself at work and I fear people will find out if I go into this. I really like him or at least I think I do. Can you offer me any advice Ralph, I will really appreciate it.

                                                                                                                                                    Ola

Morning to you too Ola
First of all I want to tell you that it is very much possible for this to work out if you are genuinely into this guy but first of all I want you to understand the situation you are contemplating from a bad angle. I will use a negative side and if you can still see a possibility through everything I throw at you then you are golden.
First of all ask and answer yourself honestly if you are looking for an affair or a serious relationship seeing that you stated earlier that you never really had much romance in your life. He is younger than you and along the line you might start looking down on him especially if he isn't as mature as you would expect or if he's interests come as childish to you. He works in the same office as you and definitely at a point you will have to boss him around in front of everybody, is he going to be able to take it and still keep he's cool knowing that you do what you have to do. If you people are found out and your company doesn't tolerate in-office dating then you might be out of work, will you be able to handle the possibility of losing your job. Financially you earn more than him I guess so will he be able to cope with that?
Now if you can face all these and many more challenges that a relationship can throw at you then I don't see a reason why this won't be able to work. Intimacy in odd places like work with your partner is just a way of adding more spice to your relationship so I don't worry much about that as long you both are extremely careful. But another advice is for you to be absolutely sure of he's primary intentions, make sure that he isn't trying to use you to climb the ladder in the company. I hope this opens your eyes to more possibilities in what you have ahead of you.
                                                                                                                                                  Ralph
