Music: India Arie Ft Akon - I am not my Hair

+esit  has succeeded in pushing me to start the Music section of the blog ahead of it's time. You people should blame her o! I tried my best to hold back for a while but she keeps calling me out on this one. Well I went ahead and still decided on an inspirational song against her will. heheheh.  It doesn't mean we won't have senseless music with no particular message or just a feel good music with no meaning every once in a while...of cos we will have all that. This is just done to annoy Esit a little further. Lol...

So y'all ready?

This song is one of the songs I play regularly on my Ipod. It just points out a lot of things that I stand for like self love, confidence, hugging your roots and being who you want to be. It also sends a message of how life is short and how you should spend it being yourself through a story about a lady that lost her hair through the Chemotherapy that she had to go through after she had breast cancer. I used this particular verse on one of my old posts called Life is too short, Start Living (Click on the link to read up on it).

The first verse from india where she told of her journey through different stages in life and how she changed the looks of her hair goes like this...

"Little girl with the press and curl
Age eight I got a Jheri curl
Thirteen then I got a relaxer
I was a source of so much laughter
Fifteen when it all broke off
Eighteen and then I went all natural
February two thousand and two I
Went and did what I had to do
Cause it was time to change my life
To become the women that I am inside
Ninety-seven dreadlocks all gone
Looked in the mirror for the first time and saw that
Hey..."

Chorus:
I am not my hair, I am not this skin
I am not your ex-pec-tations no no
I am not my hair, I am not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

It is important to know that even though she decided to use a persons hair as the outward feature that people shouldn't be judged by. The song generally means that you shouldn't judge anyone by their appearance because they are more than what you see. There is a whole soul inside the body that you do not see so do not limit your knowledge to what you see, instead get to know them better first. It doesn't matter if a person is tattooed, has piercings, rocks baggy jeans, prefers leather punk hand bands, loves spikes on his/her boots or generally doesn't look like what YOU call acceptable. What matters most is their heart.

I decided to start with this song because it is packed with a lot of messages that encourages self love. A song that asks for people not to judge one another by their appearance.

The song is really packed with a whole lot of messages. So just go ahead and hit that play button and listen to the song. Please no downloading! I am not encouraging any of that....don't want no troubles please.

Enjoy!

Lmao! I am not that serious joor...But honestly most of the music these days is senseless with not message. Think of the rappers these days they just pick one word and kill it. Like one I heard he just kept saying swerve....swerve...swerve....swerve... I lost interest before he could pick the next word to kill.

Being reading Ralph's blog and chatting with him for a while now, just don't know how to be a registered family, with picture name and all.
That said,i really need moral boosting, friendshipwise and conversations to occupy my time cos I'm walking through he'll right now mixed with hot coals.Just got out of hospital after swallowing 60 sleeping pills.
I plan events,I sell shoes, clothes, bags, accessories, deodorants and household stuffs at cheap rate and also deliver.Ralph promised to help me advertise for free but I don't know how to go about what he asked of me.
I can leave my pin, incase anyone is interested in products, friendship,or soul lifting.God bless this great family.Fisayo.
