Lower body strength

Let me as you guys a question. When a person says "I work out" what is the first thing that you picture in your head?

Most people picture the person in a gym doing sets of barbell or dumbbell curls and pumps. Some other people picture the person outside running laps or jogging around an area in the morning. While some other people, pervs especially picture the person in the gym trying hard to impress members of the opposite sex. Lol.

Something I have noticed is that hardly does anybody every picture a person doing squats or any other exercise to strengthen their lower body muscles. So today we are going to talk about lower body strength...

Naturally once a workout is mentioned, the guys think of their chests, abs, biceps and triceps. For the women it's mostly weight loss and abs. However we must learn to always remember our lower body strength. It is just as important as the upper body strength. Here are some benefits of working your lower body

Balance: Picture yourself getting into a fight or a sort of challenge that requires balance. Now you can build all the upper body strength you want but without your lower body strength you are going to have no grounding. You can push a person off balance with your big build but if you are lacking in balance yourself then you are easily going to loose your balance when challenged by the smallest person. So if that smallish person wins you in a wrestling match it's most likely because of your lack of training in your lower body.

Glutes: This one is mostly for the ladies but doesn't leave the guys out. Working your lower body especially through squats helps you work your buttock muscles. It helps give it a better shape and a firm feeling. As you know the buttocks also contains muscles and it takes lower body exercises to be able to work the muscles and develop them. This doesn't mean that they would become as hard as your biceps, not at all. You can regulate this just the way you like.

Burn fat: Muscle burns fat! Yes it's a fact that building muscles helps burn fat. So one of the best ways to burn fat is by targeting a large group of muscles. Now guess what, the largest muscle groups are found in the lower body. The largest muscle group in the human body is the gluteus maximus or the buttock muscles. So one of the fastest ways to burn fat is by targeting that muscle through lower body exercises.

Now these are just a few benefits you can get from working on your lower body strength. There are many lower body exercises that you can do and a few of them are

  • Squats
  • Hamstring curls
  • Burpees
  • Leg curls
  • Bridges
And this is just to mention a few of them. So try not to forget your lower body workout. If possible try to do about 15 - 25 squats everyday for 5 days a week. Take 2 days off to rest your leg muscles.

Never skip a leg workout day if you do not want to end up like Johnny Bravo. Yeap...just go look up johnny bravo again and you will see that he has the hugest upper body build and the tiniest legs. Lol

Good morning and have a lovely day fam!

STILL ON MY STRUGGLE GRIND TO GET ME SOME ABS. I know this post got nothing to do with abs but I'm just putting it out there that I'm part of the fitfam community. I try!

lmao! you need to switch up a couple of things. Like how low you squat and how much you tighten your glutes while squatting. Just keep it up and you will see results.Don't give up yet...the bum will grow. lol
