Dear Ralph: To quit or not to quit

Dear Ralph
I work at this company right now, the job is really stressful and we work long hours, the pay is fair and I am okay financially, not doing it so big but not broke. I am not exactly making enough savings to pursue my dreams though, I don't plan on working in this company forever. My boss is nice and my co workers are also really great, but I just feel I am wasting a lot of time here, there is a job opportunity at another company and I think I might make it if I try, the pay is far better but I can't be absolutely sure of the working conditions. What do you think I should do?

Good day Ebuka, well I guess what we all want in life is to keep moving forward and not stay stagnant or move backwards so I understand why you want to quit your current job. As you said you don't know if you are leaving for a place that won't be as conducive as your present company, but then again you would never know till you give it a shot. You need to calculate the risk and the gain and know if it is worth taking. If possible, if you have a really close relationship with your boss explain to him what is happening, he might just understand and you can ask him to consider taking you back if things go south and you have to go back. If you are good at what you are doing i'm sure he will miss you and save a place for you, it's always safe to have a backup plan. If the risks still outweigh the gain and you feel you can still do it then fine, it's all your choice and you know best what you can handle.
I'm not saying you should quit your job and i'm not saying you shouldn't take the chance in front of you, all i'm saying is that you should trust your instincts and follow your heart...Best of luck Ebuka
