Dear Ralph: My Girlfriend Loves to cook but...

   Good Evening Mr Ralph. My Girlfriend is a really lovely girl, we are very much in Love and she doesn't nag me all the time, we have a lot in common and we have been very happy for the six months we've been together. But here is the problem, cooking is my girls passion, she loves it a lot and doesn't complain about it, she also makes sure she cooks anytime she comes over to my place but she doesn't know how to. I really love my food but and I know the best thing to do is to tell her but I don't know the best way to approach this...

     Good day to you sir, well you sound like the both of you are doing quite well as a couple generally so your problem shouldn't be hard to tackle. All you need to do is sit her down and talk to her in the friendliest manner that you can. Let her know how you feel about her cooking and that you aren't bringing it up to upset her or put her down but that if she can try and improve on that aspect of her life you would really appreciate it. Now as for you, try to look for ways to help her out, offer your support and try to do it with her, learn with her when you have the time and try to point out her mistakes every now and then without a tone of criticism, like if she added too much pepper in the rice or the beans is swimming in palm oil, a little humor can come in when doing this provided she can take a joke. As much as you try your best to point out her flaws also remember to praise her when she does it right, it will go a long way in boosting her confidence and helping her improve even more. And as an extra tip, if in the future she points out a problem with you be willing to talk it over and listen to her side cos she will have to know you are willing to make improvements just the way she is willing to.
