Monday Myth: Muscle Turns into Fat



         The saying that when you stop working on your muscle, it turns back into fat is another myth that has been around for sometime, although this mostly exists in our minds. The thing about these myths is that you debunk them and someone brings up a bigger fact to counter what you already know. Anyway in the cycle of debunking and for lack of better words "bunking" back the myths, I have come to debunk another one.


      You see, when you work out, you build your body fat into muscle. But it doesn't just go away when you stop working out. What happens is that your appetite stays the same and you start taking in more calories than you are burning. Your body is doing nothing to burn the excess calories and it is taking in more than it needs. So the excesses are turned into fat and they gather around the muscle you have already built.
    You cannot exactly say that the muscle is converted into fat. The muscle you have built still remains there. It is only hidden away under layers of fat when you start consuming the excess calories. I have also noticed that after leaving your workout for some time. Although there might be body pains when you first go back to it. It wouldn't take as long as it took before to get back into the shape you want, so don't be discouraged from going back to your workout because you feel it would be starting over again. I have only tested this while doing some routines I am already used to but would check to see if it works while switching your workout routines
